MONTPELIER EXCURSIONS
Dig in Style!
Join Montpelier's famed archaeologists and dig for historical "treasure" in never-before-examined hallowed ground. This concentrated experience will give you the skills of a real archaeologist as you work side-by-side with Montpelier's Ph.D. archaeologists to discover the pottery, glassware, buttons, door hinges, and other remnants that reveal how the Madisons and their slaves lived and worked on the estate.

There are a total of nine Archaeological Expedition/Excursion programs in the 2010 field season:

Cancellation Policy: Deposit is non-refundable. However if cancellation is made 14 days prior to the scheduled check-in date the Excursion may be moved to the next mutually available date with Montpelier and your B&B and the Restaurants. If rescheduling is not possible the deposit will be forfeited.
Restaurants include Inn at Meander Plantation, Restaurant Pomme, Toliver House, Elmwood at Sparks, Mario's, Silk Mill Grill, and San Marcos.

Experience the best Virginia wines by visiting six Piedmont wineries within a short drive from James Madison's home. Begin your Montpelier Wine Weekend with a tasting and a dinner at the award-winning Palladio Restaurant at Barboursville Vineyards where Chef Melissa Close was recently selected as a finalist for the James Beard Award.
