The Innkeepers

Elizabeth Goeke and Jay Billie

The personality of an inn is defined as distinctly by its innkeepers as it is by its furnishings, its view, and its food. Elizabeth and Jay take pride in every detail of the inn, from the softness of the pillows to ensuring the freshness of the morning breakfast.

In Elizabeth’s previous career as a founder and executive of Moving Comfort, a women’s sports apparel company, she had done extensive traveling throughout the world looking for the most technical fabrics. During her travels, Elizabeth had stayed in a wide range of hotels and inns, writing down what she enjoyed and didn’t like. She always felt owning and operating a bed & breakfast was her second career calling. She had been purchasing and storing items to be placed in the Inn years before she ever started looking for a property. Soon, it became a reality.

Jay had worked in the market research industry with Arbitron, The Gallup Organization, and as a consultant in his own business, but always wanted to restore old homes and spend more time gardening. Jay also has a craving for cooking with natural ingredients. An avid seed saver, Jay grows a number of vegetables and fruits served from the Westwood kitchen, as well as the flowers displayed throughout the Inn.

Add a 25th high school reunion, a first date five years later and the beautiful countryside of Central Virginia, you learn how these two met and why they chose Orange as their dream. Elizabeth and Jay were married here at the Inn in 2007.
